We have some great news: Marcel Hertach, a passionate host and native of Maur, has taken over the Gasthof Löwen. With a lot of passion and new ideas, he has breathed new life into the Löwen. The lion can roar again! We have renovated it for you.

Since 11 March 2025, the guesthouse has been shining in new splendour. We welcome you and wish you unforgettable moments in a place full of hospitality, enjoyment and cosiness. Marcel Hertach and his team cordially invite you to discover the new chapter of the Löwen together with us.

Our history

In 1838, the legendary steel spring was discovered in an idyllic corner, and from then on its healing waters flowed into the venerable Gasthof Löwen. This act of connecting nature and hospitality marked the beginning of a unique story that would change the inn's reputation forever.

Out of this historic source grew a magnificent spa resort that embodied the beauty and benefits of nature. The Löwen, once a modest place of rest and relaxation, blossomed into a place of health and well-being. Its transformation into a hotel not only stands as a testament to days gone by, but also as a symbol of the enduring connection between tradition and modernity.

Today, the Gasthof Löwen shines as a preserved monument that embodies the history of Mönchaltorf. Its walls tell of times gone by, of countless guests who sought peace and renewal here, and of the unforgettable moments that were experienced within its halls.
